Minh and Hobart | Tea Ceremony Wedding | San Jose, CA

Minh and Hobart started off their all day wedding celebration with a traditional Vietnamese Tea Ceremony at Minh’s parent’s home in San Jose, CA. Minh wore the traditional Vietnamese wedding dress, the Ao Dai, in a striking red color and Hobart sported a deep blue Ao Dai.

The Tea Ceremony started with the Groom’s arrival and bringing of gifts to the bride’s family. Inside the home, Minh entered the main lving room from the stairs and her father thanked everyone for coming. The couple said a blessing and then served tea to both sets of parents. Then the couple graciously accepted gifts from their closest family and friends.

After the Tea Ceremony was complete, everyone went outside for photo time. This was so much fun and enjoyed by all. Here is one of our favorite group wedding photos. After the photos, everyone was invited into the backyard for a ton of delicious Vietnamese food.

It was such a delight to be able to photograph this intimate and rich Vietnamese tradition. What was most memorable about this wedding ceremony was the closeness of the family, the inclusiveness, and the generousity. The wedding celebrations did not end here. Later that day, we joined back up with Minh and Hobart for their Boulder Ridge Golf Club Wedding.
