Maya & Anson’s urban San Francisco wedding was the perfect mix of modern and classic style with an incredible group of family and friends and one of the best parties we’ve had the pleasure to photograph.
We started the day off with a first look in front of an amazing graffiti wall in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District. Anson looked very handsome in his stylish blue suit as he stood facing the graffiti wall in anticipation of seeing his soon to be bride, Maya, in her wedding dress for the first time. Maya came walking up the street, looking absolutely stunning in her beautiful satin wedding dress and her hands in her pockets. Pockets on a wedding dress…how cool is that? Her mom followed close behind her. She stopped a few feet behind Anson and waited for him to turn around. When Anson turned around, his face beamed with love. The couple embraced and kissed lovingly and then we began one of our most favorite portrait sessions ever.
The urban setting combined with the edgy feel of the graffiti wall and the fact that Maya and Anson were naturals when it came to posing, gave us some of the most amazing and unique bride and groom portraits we have ever done.
After the portrait session, we walked a few city blocks to Maya and Anson’s wedding venue. They chose the historic Verdi Club in San Francisco to host their wedding ceremony and reception. This 1930’s style space was brimming with classic charm and simple, elegant decor, complete with a stage. Guests waited inside the Verdi Club ballroom for Maya’s entrance. The wedding ceremony was beautiful. Maya and Anson chose a good friend of theirs to be their officiant which made the ceremony extra special for them.
A defining feature of Maya and Anson’s reception decor was the bottles of vodka placed on every table, a Russian tradition. Each speech was followed up with vodka shots. Maya and Anson decided to forego the traditional wedding cake in favor of a donut table. Instead of a cake cutting, they split a donut in half and fed each other. It was a fun twist on tradition. When the dance floor opened up, the party really began. It seemed like every one of Maya and Anson’s family members and friends loved to dance.
Maya and Anson’s wedding day was full of style, amazing friends and family, vodka, and a ton of dancing. We wish the newly married couple all the best in their future together!
